Careers
Preparing students to be successful, resilient, healthy and responsible citizens is a core part of our mission as a school community. We work alongside our specialist professionals as well as CSW (Home - CSW Group Ltd.) to provide independent, comprehensive careers guidance, support and planning for post 16 transition and adulthood. Careers education is an integral part of our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum, alongside Careers, Life Skills, Personal, Social and Relationship Education.
We support students to consider their future options, realise their potential and decide how their skills and experiences fit with opportunities in Further Education and the job market. We prepare students for their preferred post 16 pathways whether that is to continue with further education, employment or training. Our Preparation for Adulthood programme is developing to ensure we offer students a full range of work related and community based experiences that widen their understanding and experiences. We are fully committed to our statutory and moral obligation to provide a holistic careers service to students from the moment they join our school family, embracing the full range of academic and vocational pathways students can take in achieving their future goals and aspirations.
We follow the DfE’s statutory guidance for schools in these areas as well as benchmarking our Careers provision against current best practice and legislation. We use the eight aspects in the Gatsby Foundation Report on Good Career Guidance for our monitoring as well as to develop our careers provision. Additionally, we build our provision on student and family feedback alongside that from professionals to inform development of our programme, along with our destination data.
